You must

1. Have a disability: an impairment or a limitation.

  • Have this disability on a long-term basis.
  • Experience difficulties performing everyday activities.

2. Be 5 years of age or older.

3. Be a resident of Quebec.

4. Require the assistance of an accompanying person to take part in a tourist, cultural, or leisure activity.

You need this accompanying person for at least one of the following reasons:

  • To communicate with others: Understand information or interact with others, even with the use of assistive technologies, etc.
  • To participate safely in the activity: Prevent behaviors that could endanger your safety or that of others due to unpredictable reactions, or to help manage such reactions appropriately, etc.
  • To assist with personal care : Using the toilet (sitting, getting up, cleaning or drying), changing protective undergarments, dressing or undressing, taking medication, or performing certain medical tasks (changing bandages, etc.).
  • To help with eating : Bringing food to your mouth, cutting food, monitoring food intake (including issues related to swallowing or choking risks), ensuring appropriate mealtime behavior (e.g., not throwing food or taking food from others), or for complex nutritional care (parenteral feeding, intravenous hyperalimentation), etc.
  • To assist with mobility : Transferring positions, regularly repositioning in a wheelchair, providing support due to unsafe walking (with or without mobility aids), pushing a wheelchair over long distances, due to fatigue, weakness, or to prevent falls on stairs, etc.
  • To assist with orientation : Navigating time, identifying places and locations, recognizing people or belongings, etc.
